  • ABOUT THE ROLE:

    The Kija Women’s Ranger Coordinator assists the delivery of the Kija ranger program by providing strong leadership to a team of female Indigenous rangers to deliver on their annual works plan, as set by Kija traditional owners. The works plan is made up of a diverse range of cultural and natural resource management activities, including fire management, threatened and pest species management, on country trips with senior traditional owners, engagement with the local school and much more.

    The Kija Women’s Ranger Coordinator will take a lead role in growing the capacity of the Kija women rangers and enhancing the traditional owner governance of the program.

    WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR?

    We are looking for a dynamic and resilient individual with proven skills and capacity in Indigenous engagement, land and sea cultural and natural resource management, project management and administration.

    This position is based in Warmun (Turkey Creek) and works across the Kija country in the East Kimberley in Western Australia.

  • About the Role:

    The Strategic Projects Manager works closely with the CEO to develop, grow and lead program and project management for economic development opportunities.

    Initially, managing a strategic program of interconnected projects, including proactively supporting the identification and implementation of frameworks, governance and structures related to economic development opportunities in the Kimberley Region and joint venture partnerships.

    Supporting implementation of the KLC Strategic Plan, three core Focus Areas:

    · Get back Country

    · Look after Country

    · Get control of our Future

    The successful candidate will demonstrate an understanding of the issues affecting Kimberley Aboriginal people and an in-depth understanding of the social, cultural and legal issues facing the KLC. They will advocate for Aboriginal peoples’ aspirations for economic participation, setting an agenda for sustainable economic development. Experience in managing complex stakeholder relationships across geographically remote areas and an understanding of managing an Indigenous organisation is highly desirable.

    The position operates out of KLC Broome office with travel across the Kimberley.

    The Martuwarra Fitzroy River Project Manager will lead the management, development and delivery of project activities that advance Traditional Owner rights and aspirations relating to water management and planning.

    A key focus of the role will be managing and delivering a comprehensive Traditional Owner engagement process about proposed water allocation planning in the Kimberley (primarily the Fitzroy-Derby water allocation planning area), including working with Kimberley Prescribed Bodies Corporate (PBCs), Traditional Owners, other stakeholders and the WA Government Department for Water, Environment and Regulation (DWER).

    The role will oversee project delivery and will lead a project team.
